The self-centered philanthropist: family involvement and corporate social responsibility in private enterprises

Abstract Although corporate social responsibility (CSR) has attracted increasing attention in recent years, systematic studies on the CSR of Chinese enterprises are absent from academic publications. This study examines effects family involvement private enterprises. Using enterprise data China, article reveals that, one hand, will improve investment toward community stakeholders; other a negative effect contractual stakeholders. With influence “ chaxu geju ,” author argues that families tend to shift between different logics behavior when faced with people whom they have types relationships and incorporate this behavioral mode into company practices engage themselves management business affairs.
